About PWR

Paul Rose MSc BA (Hons) CSCS

Hi, I'm Paul,

Founder of PWR Coaching, a 1:1 physical performance coaching service specialising in equipping people with the physical attributes they need to conquer life and look athletic when doing so!

Why I got into coaching

I competed and loved playing many sports growing up, and although always being determined and training hard, I consistently found myself in the 'good' player category, never really standing out.

Was it down to my genetics or the lack of quality coaching?

In all honesty, it was very likely a combination of the two.

But my professional and academic experience has helped me realise that a lot of what I was doing and being told back then was wrong and nonsensical. Nowadays, with all the noise from social media and internet gurus, it's even more challenging to disseminate real scientific claims from science fiction regarding fitness and nutrition.

I got into coaching because I get a great sense of pride from helping others achieve their version of success, and I want to help people achieve success through tried and trusted methods led by scientific evidence and my personal experience.

My Aim.

To encourage, guide and transform the lives of the people I work with, building anti-fragile, self-sufficient, self confident individuals who are realising the true benefits of harnessing their physical potential!

What I do.

Provide my clients with an elite level of coaching to facilitate their development process, starting from where they are now and progressing them towards their goals.

Approach.

I help clients re-discover their physical potential: running faster, jumping higher, lifting heavier weights, moving better, and having more confidence in their bodies.

I achieve this by creating bespoke goal-driven training programs based on an individual's lifestyle and goals while providing personalised coaching and feedback.

Using professional tools to create specific goals and metrics to ensure that you are progressing appropriately.

Principles.

Communication.

I employ a people-first approach treating people like people, learning about both the athlete and the person. Communication is essential in this aspect; developing trust and a positive coach-client relationship comes from open and honest communicating.

Keeping it simple.

I use simple training means to elicit a significant training effect. Boiling it down to the essentials and keeping your programming flexible, I look to improve within the bounds of your readiness and reduce any unwanted confusion.

Strong foundations.

Setting solid foundations, building mechanical proficiency, and executing the fundamentals will facilitate long term performance development. From a training and nutritional perspective, establishing core principles will influence your physical performance whilst simultaneously developing efficiency and robustness.

Integrated approach.

Using a client-centred approach, I use evidence-based practices that contribute to your enhanced physical performance. Analysing your potential strengths and weaknesses, how you respond to different training stimuli, training age, injury status, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors.
